Story By: CAMDEN PROUD / OSWEGO SPEEDWAY – OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Eagles Fan Club, a volunteer non-profit organization formed in 1974 with the purpose of supporting Oswego Speedway’s Supermodified and SBS teams, officially relaunched for the 2018 season on February 3 during the Eagles Fan Club ‘Relaunch Party’ at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego.
New officers and assistants Eric Syrell, Marion Naramore, Samantha Todd, Brenda Syrell, Craig Tyrell and Mike Foster were all on hand passing out membership sign ups, distributing Eagles Fan Plan Tickets and helping to sell tickets for raffle items, 50/50’s, lotto boards, Super Bowl boards and much more.
A strong cast of Oswego Speedway’s drivers, owners, fans and partners appeared at Lighthouse Lanes on Saturday afternoon to sign up for the fan club as either an individual, race team, or business.
“The Oswego Eagles Fan Club would like to thank all of the drivers, teams, and fans that took the time to stop out to Lighthouse Lanes and support Oswego Speedway’s Supermodified and SBS teams yesterday afternoon and evening,” said Eagles president Eric Syrell. “We were happy to see a strong turn out and outpouring of support to kick things off as we continue to work hard at getting the Eagles Fan Club back on track for 2018 and beyond. Thank you to all of those who donated or sponsored the event with raffle and prize items in order to make it a success. We look forward to seeing everyone at Opening Day.”
Following the relaunch party, a few reminders go out to race teams who will be or have already purchased a business membership for the 2018 race season. Those teams must pay a $50 fee to the Eagles prior to the first heat race on Opening Day, May 26. If this amount is not paid prior to the drop of the green flag, the fee will be raised to $75. The year end prize and purse for Eagles Fan Club teams is completely separate from the speedway’s, however, should teams fail to sell their two Eagles Fan Plan Tickets as part of their business membership, that team’s year-end prize from the Fan Club will be altered.
An Eagles ‘Super Fan Plan’ ticket is part of the driver’s point fund for the 2018 season which teams must sell for the price of $100 each. A maximum of 300 total Super Fan Plan tickets will be sold across all Supermodified and SBS teams. The winning ticket will be drawn on Friday, August 31 during the Party in the Pits on Budweiser International Classic Weekend. First prize will win $10,000 cash. The last ticket drawn wins $1,000, 2nd to last wins $700, 3rd to last wins $600, and so on. Every 20th ticket drawn wins $100. Once your ticket is drawn, you are eliminated from the contest.
Additionally, business memberships to sponsor or partner with the Eagles Fan Club are reasonably priced at $100. All money raised goes back to the speedway’s Supermodified and SBS teams and those who sign up for the $100 membership will receive their business logo on the back side of the 2018 Eagles Fan Club t-shirts.
Fans, drivers, owners, or crew can sign up for the Eagles Fan Club at any time for a $10 membership which includes a t-shirt as part of the fee.
To sign up for all or any of the above options, contact Eagles president Eric Syrell and mail completed forms picked up at the relaunch party with fees to ‘Eagles Fan Club’ at 139 City Line Road in Oswego, NY 13126 ℅ Eric Syrell.
Although a separate organization from the speedway itself, the Eagles Fan Club works hand in hand with track management and race teams for the betterment of Supermodified and Small Block Supermodified drivers and owners. Those in attendance at yesterday’s event are reminded that all funds raised by the Oswego Eagles Fan Club goes directly back to the race teams.
