Story By: PAUL ARUTE / STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY – STAFFORD SPRINGS, CT – Friday, July 13th will be a special night at Stafford Speedway with the Inaugural running of the TC 13 SK Modified® Shootout in honor of the late Ted Christopher.
The special shootout event will be held directly following the scheduled 40 lap SK Modified® feature with the top 13 finishers earning entry into the shootout. The top-13 will be inverted and the 13-lap shootout will be run. Stafford is proud to announce that the total purse, as of Tuesday July 10th, stands at $6,006 with the winner receiving $1,313. Any additional contributions will be spread throughout the field of 13.
“The support for this event has been incredible,” explained Stafford Speedway CFO Lisa Arute. “We have pulled together the funds to post a $6,006 purse for 13 laps, Teddy would have liked that payday. We hope that a unique event like this can honor what he meant to Stafford and the short track racing community. Thank you to all of those who have stepped up to support this event.”
The top-5 finishers in the shootout will each receive over $500 in purse, 2nd Place payout is $813 while the last place finisher will receive $213. Coupled with the regularly scheduled 40-lap feature, total posted awards for the SK Modified® division Friday, July 13th will exceed $15,000.
The TC 13 SK Modified Shootout will be paired with the highly anticipated Bud Light Open Modified 80, the 2nd Open Modified event of the 2018 season.
“The TC 13 shootout combined with the Bud Light Open Modified 80 makes Friday, July 13th one of the best value tickets of the summer,” continued Arute. “We know all the SK teams will be looking to capture the Inaugural TC 13 Shootout trophy created by Sign Pro, but on top of that the open modified teams will all be looking to capture the Bud Light Open 80 crown. This is definitely a can’t miss event.”
The Inaugural TC 13 Shootout has received contributions from a long list of supporters including: Justin and Tabitha Manafort, Jeff Ramsey Carpentry, New England Race Fuel, Major Motion Transport, LifeCare Family Chiropractic, NAPA of Tolland, Gaston Racing Enterprises, Wheelers Auto Service, Sign Pro, and the NASCAR Whelen All American Series.
Tickets for the Bud Light Open Modified 80 are priced at $30.00 for adult general admission, $5.00 for children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seat tickets are $32.00 for all ages. All ticket prices include 10% CT Admission Tax. Stafford Motor Speedway offers plenty of free parking along with overnight camping available for self contained Recreational Vehicles.
