Story By: RACE OF CHAMPIONS – NORTH EAST, PA – Race of Champions and Lake Erie Speedway management have agreed to and are announcing the dates for Race of Champions Weekend through the 2024 race season.
Race of Champions Weekend will take place at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa., on the following dates:
- September 23, 24 and 25, 2022
- September 22, 23 and 24, 2023
- September 27, 28 and 29, 2024
“We have been working on delivering this information and wanted to get it out there,” stated Joe Skotnicki, Race of Champions. “Besides being able to mark these important dates on your calendar, this shows everyone our continued commitment to continuing one of the great traditions of our sport.”
Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend takes place this year on September 24, 25 with the running of the 71st Race of Champions 250 on Sunday, September 26, 2021.
Tickets are already on sale for the 71st edition of the Race of Champions in 2021 while tickets for the 2022 edition will go on sale Sunday, September 26, 2021, so fans may renew their tickets at the speedway that day.
SPORTSMAN MOD, SUPER STOCKS TO HEADLINE SPENCER OPENER JULY 16
Race of Champions Sportsman Modified and Super Stock Series competitors will headline at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y., during the 66th Annual Season opening event on Friday, July 16, 2021.
The Sportsman Modified Series will take part in a 35-lap $2,000-to-win feature, while the Super Stock Series will race for 25-laps and $1,000-to-win.
“We are excited,” stated Tommy Barron of Ontario, N.Y., who was the 2019 Super Stock Series champion as well as the winner at Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday, June 5. “Spencer is our home track. Many of us live pretty close to the track and we are looking forward to getting back to business there. It’s going to be a fun night.”
At Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa., on Saturday, June 5, Daryl Lewis, Jr., of Ontario, N.Y., also scored his first Sportsman Modified victory. The Lewis name is synonymous with Spencer Speedway.
“After the track didn’t operate in 2020 during the pandemic, things didn’t look too good,” began Lewis. “But in the last month, things have really come together and we can’t wait to get back to racing at Spencer. It’s home and we are looking forward to being there.”
The “Food Truck Frenzy” featuring local food trucks and tastes from the area will also make its return.
The gates for the 66th Annual season opener will swing open for fans at 5:00pm with qualifying at 7:15pm. The Sportsman and Super Stocks will be joined by the Wilbert’s Four Cylinder and Wilbert’s Super Six Division.
